Product Update –

1) Chicken- We will process our forth batch of chickens July 19th. Individual pieces have been added to our store for orders just ahead of July 24th delivery date.

2) Beef - Individual cuts - we added individual cuts to our store about July 9th and are fully stocked

SALE: 25# Ground Beef is on sale at the 50# price until July 22nd.

Custom Half Beef - if you are interested in getting a half beef it is not to late to get in on the beef taken for processing July 8th. That is what Leslie from Hattiesburg did Friday and will receive their beef by the end of July. Simply follow this link https://naturesgourmetfarm.com/custom-bulk-orders

3) Pork- We have some link & pattie sausage available. If you are looking for a half or whole pig - Saturday is the last day to order a custom half or whole pig for this processing date.

4) Eggs- Egg production has slowed down - mostly from the older hens. We've coordinated to receive younger hens (slipped to late August) so we can get them acclimated during the summer sales slump and be laying strong when demand picks up in the fall.

FARM UPDATE:
Hey, Ben here. Hope you are well and enjoying some summer vacation time with family and friends as well as weekend grilling time.

We are basically complete with our on-farm poultry processing plant. Wednesday, Commissioner Gipson visited our farm to see first hand how things looked. His team made this video to help promote MS Raised food to consumers and hopefully grow the MS Agriculture Economy in our state. This is very important! As you may recall several facts I have shared in the past are 1) MS imports 90% of the food consumed in our state 2) MS AG economy is less than 10% in dollars as compared to North Carolina per square mile.

One of the key points Commissioner Gipson makes is he is for anyone in MS who wants to farm for a living. It does not matter how large or small your farm is, what crop or animal you raise, or how you market your product the MS Department of Ag is here to help you be successful. In my experience he has certainly demonstrated his commitment to this.

Remember, Monday at midnight is the order deadline for July 24th deliveries. Summers can be tough for us as folks take vacations and get ready for school to start.

Beth & I thank you for supporting local (integrity) regenerative food sources to create a food system that is better for the animals welfare, better for regenerating the land and better for a healthy community. That is the only way to make a positive impact.

Customer Feedback- "This family owned operation is top notch! They raise grass fed pasture raised beef, chicken, and pork. You can tell the difference in quality grass fed pasture raised meat. It’s so much better for you and the way the good lord intended us to eat. The fact that they are right here in my home state makes it even better. I will continue to purchase all my meat and eggs from Ben and his family. J. Maples

Quote Worth Re-Quoting – Simply by starting to cook again, you declare your independence from the culture of fast food. As soon as you cook, you start thinking about ingredients. You start thinking about plants and animals and not the microwave. And you will find that your diet, just by that one simple act, that is greatly improved. —Michael Pollan

Thank you for supporting our regenerative, local farm.

Farm & Market Updates

Market Update – Our farm objective is to raise nutrient dense meats without all the chemicals, vaccines, hormones, and etc. And be able to provide them to a community of families at a reasonable price. We measure success based on pounds sold verses dollars earned. Current beef prices are making that harder to accomplish as families seek options to reduce their food bills. I know we have not passed along the full impact of higher prices to our customers which means we are not making as much as before nor are we selling as much beef.

Beef Pricing Update & Sausage

Beef Pricing Update – Beef prices continue to increase and hit a new All-Time high AGAIN last week. This week, the Chief Production Officer (CPO) for JBS Meats (one of the four largest beef packers) stated that prices will remain high for at least the next two years. His rationale was the low cow herd numbers, little to no indication farmers/ranchers are retaining females to grow their herds (at these high prices they are taking the money now while it is there); when females are being retained it will take over 2.5 years before a calf will be ready for harvest (9-month gestation + about 24 months old at harvest). Lastly, consumer demand remains strong.

Taste Test

Greetings Ben and Beth, I'm really looking forward to my next order pick up. I'm trying to improve my cholesterol numbers, thus eating more chicken, and ran out of your chicken products. I ended up buying some industrially produced chicken, and man was that a mistake! It smelled terrible raw, also while it was being sauteed, and also later when I reheated it to put into an otherwise healthy salad. I have enough of this subpar stuff to last until I pick my order, but I don't think I can ever buy this CAFO stuff again.
