Powerful Customer Testimony: One of our 70-year-old customers (I will call him George) wrote the following testimony....

I really enjoyed Dr. Casey Means' book and video. She advocates eliminating seed oils because of their high Omega-6 content and eating at least 2 grams of Omega-3 per day (Good Energy, page 285). Seed oils include soybean oil, canola oil, corn oil, peanut oil, sunflower oil, and safflower oil (Good Energy, page 172). She recommends getting Omega-3 fatty acids from pastured eggs. Grass-finished beef also has Omega-3s.

The recommended Omega-6:Omega-3 ratio is less than a 4:1 ratio, with lower being better. The Standard American Diet typically has a ratio of 20:1. It is also recommended to have a minimum of 5.5% Omega-3 in red blood cell (RBC) membranes.

My Omega-6:Omega-3 ratio was 3.5 and my amount of Omega-3 in RBCs was 8.5% based on a lab analysis last July. Both are well within the recommended ranges for optimum health. I don’t take any Omega-3 supplements. More than 90% of my food comes from Nature’s Gourmet Farm.

Thank you and Beth and your sons for all you do.

George told me the other 10% of his food is coffee and salmon. Based on his energy level and lab test results I would say he is in excellent health.

George’s SEVEN Habits For Good Health:

  1. 1. Regular lab work for key markers. Understands results
  2. 2. George exercises regularly
  3. 3. Research & study options to improve his health/key markers
  4. 4. Has been our customer since August 2020. Order count is 48. Only missed three orders since becoming a customer
  5. 5. Order value is 4 or more times the average customer order value
  6. 6. Always either first or second in line at pickup. Has never been late
  7. 7. Has never asked for an exception to products or our farm orders process

So, I am not saying or suggesting everyone must eat or spend like George. However, it is just as important to notice what is NOT in his diet. Like - seed oils, processed foods (also know as convienence foods), sugars, and glyphosate.

As I sit in front of my computer reflecting on these Seven Habits, other customers come to mind. Most if not all started with small orders, but as their understanding improved, their old habits were replaced with new health priorities (habits).

Imagine the high quality of life good health has given George in his retirement.

Then consider that the average American 65 and older has two chronic diseases (compared to NONE back in the 1960s) and takes an average of 14 pills per day. Sounds like George is also saving a lot of money on medication and doctor visits!

The statistics are staggering for children, young adults, to elderly.

Part 4 of 4 Dr. Casey Means: So, why are we always stocked out? Because more and more families are ditching processed foods for real food from a farmer they know and trust! More & more folks are understanding the importance healthy food plays in their health and do not trust their health to conventionally grown products. YEP! Mississippi desperately needs more farmers raising healthy food for our communities!!!

Today, I’m sharing Part 4 of 4 themes Dr. Means discussed with Megyn Kelly titled “The Alarming, Dangerous, Reality of Bayer and Monsanto Merger”. You can watch from this link.

Casey and her brother Calle are certainly doing a lot to increase awareness of how broken our heath and food industries are. But, she is not the only one. Another prominent name, RFK Jr., is very out spoken on the poor condition of Americans health and also calls out food as the primary issue.

Here are links to past videos if you missed them.

Part 2 of 4 themes Dr. Means discusses with Megyn Kelly titled “The Truth About Seed Oils and the Disgusting Way Canola Oil is Made”. You can watch from this link.

I’ll leave you with this quote from Wendell Berry- "People are fed by the food industry, which pays no attention to health, and are treated by the health industry, which pays no attention to food".

Half/Whole Beef Orders: We have planned the LAST 2024 harvest of seven beef (14 halves) for 2024. The harvest date will be November 5th. That will give the processor time to complete your order so pickup can be prior to your Thanksgiving holiday.

Four beef (8 halves) have already been spoken for. Inventory was added to our website Sunday morning when everyone's order window is open. If you are interested then you need to place your order ASAP. Here is a link to helpful Ordering Tips.

Thanksgiving Turkeys & Smoked Hams:

Turkeys are sold out. I received word that they are processed and ready to ship by sprinter van. Delivery to customers will start after we receive them, but not later than Thanksgiving.

Smoked hams are a Thanksgiving favorite along with the centerpiece turkey. We processed smoked hams from pigs we harvested this week. Currently they are in the brine and will be smoked in about 9 days with inventory to be ready for November delivery routes.

At Nature's Gourmet Farm, our intent is to create a community that evolves around one of the most intrinsically important things of the ages, and that’s the provision of sustenance. That's our passion - to raise healthy food to nourish families and strengthen immune systems.

Emotional Week = Short Newsletter

Difficult Week – About six weeks ago Beth’s mom Jackie found out her cancer had returned. Her condition worsened very fast and she passed away early Tuesday morning. Beth had been staying with her most of the last two weeks. Her funeral was Friday morning. Working with our team we were able to process chicken Tuesday & Wednesday mornings and post inventory. We also processed 8 pigs the afternoon of those two days and posted the fresh pork items. I want to express how much we appreciate our team who stepped up and did extra to support our farm and lessen the burden on Beth.

My Customer Response

Food deserts are regions where people have limited access to healthful and affordable food. This may be due to having a low income or having to travel farther to find healthful food options. Without access to healthful foods, people living in food deserts may be at higher risk of diet-related conditions, such as obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and micro-nutrient deficiencies. Medical News Today I would offer additional considerations to include: 1. In 2016 a study was made that determined MS imports $8.5 billion dollars worth of food. That was more than a billion greater than farm commodity crops generated in sales that year.

A Reason For Hope

A Reason For Hope - This newsletter has been hard to put together – so many different yet related inputs it has been difficult to keep the focus corralled and the length within reason. So, I will simply use a few excerpts from a recent podcast with Dr. Mark Hyman on TCN. The FACTS are clear – Centralized, Cheap, Commodity, Processed, and etc. food (as it is called – not what Webster calls food) is a complete FAILURE. FAILURE is across all races, includes male & females, and income levels. However, lower income levels are affected at a higher level and the Southeast US is also higher. FAILURE is not only in physical health with the increase in chronic diseases, but also mental health
