How Did We Get Here

How Did We Get Here? - Join me on pasture with our hens as we watch them forage and Ben shares a few thoughts about how did we get here? Less that 100 years ago 35% plus of our population lived on a farm that supplied most of their food as well as sales to their communities. Today, less than 4% are engaged in agriculture in some form. Precious few farms sell direct to consumers. Click here to join the conversation.

The answer is relatively simple. When 85% of the items in grocery stores are controlled in some way by only four companies and 85% of the meat sold is controlled by only four companies the answer becomes very clear. These big companies use their lawyers and lobbyists as well as association lobbyists to write and influence legislation at the federal and state level that benefits the companies' share price at the expense of consumers and small businesses. Politicians tend to get the blame, and they certainly enable the scheme, but the root of the problem lies in massive consolidation and control - fueled by greed!

You may not be aware, but I spent some 25 years in purchasing and supply chain management for multiple corporations. Studied, attended training sessions and took the test to become a Certified Purchasing Manager. Spent a lot of time and long days/nights in airports travelling to domestic and foreign markets looking for opportunities. Everyday the objective was to buy X cheaper so product XYZ could be sold at a higher margin than competition.

I walked away from the corporate world December 2005. And, I have not been on an airplane since 2013. Gone are the days of endless conference calls and corporate meetings. Stewarding this bit of God's creation to raise nutrient-dense meat and eggs for consumers is much more gratifying than anything I have ever done. I am so blessed and thankful to be able to share what we raise with the rapidly growing healthy food community.

Is centralized food the only risk we have to worry about? Of course not! Maybe worse is the risk from artificial intelligence (AI). I listened to a 20 minute video Yuval Noah Harari gave at the 2026 WEF in February. Several things he said were very disturbing, like: by 2028 Everything Made of Words Will Be Taken Over By AI. AI will create mass delusion, inventing myths, and collapse truth. He stated, AI is not a tool - it's an agent that can rule humans.

I say more the reason to put your faith and trust in the Lord Jesus and not in the evil ways of mankind!

Chicken Update - Customers really like our chicken! When we add inventory Wednesday after processing the breast would sell out in under 2 hours. So, we set out to increase production batch sizes from 240 to 300 with the first 300 batch to process April 22nd. But, we knew we needed to do something to "fill the gap" until April 22nd. So, I purchased some whole and pieces from my friend at Fed From The Farm in MO.

Some customers were thankful to have nutrient-dense, pasture-raised chicken from FFF while others preferred NGF chicken, but gladly worked through the pieces they purchased (thank you).

All that to say, we have moved all the chicken purchased from FFF except a few packs of wings and orders going forward will be chicken raised and processed here on our farm.

Half-Beef Custom Processed Orders - May harvest order window opened April 4th and will close April 27th. Harvest will be May 5th. Thanks 😉

Please note that beef prices are again moving up after being steady for the past 4 to 5 months.

Bruce says NGF hamburger meat is stellar. He even has one of our eggs fried on top! Thanks for the picture and kind words of encouragement.

Nature's Gourmet Farm product value proposition is to create a community that evolves around one of the most intrinsically important and critical needs of the ages, and that’s the provision of sustenance. That's our passion - to raise healthy animals to provide nutrient dense protein and saturated fat that nourish families and strengthens immune systems.

Our Beef is always grass finished with NO grains. Additionally, our animals are free of mRNA, GMO's (chemicals), Antibiotics, and Hormones. We ethically raise them on diverse forage pastures that regenerates our soils and protects our ecosystem.
