Our Chicken Speaks For Itself - Reagan, a recent customer to our farm after pickup July 18th circled back around and was bragging about our chicken to Beth. So, we asked if she would mind if we shared her testimony with our customers. So, she emailed this from what she had wrote on her Facebook page.
I recently placed an order to a local farm called natures gourmet farm out of petal for some chicken breasts. Well, tonight I used the first of it. I took the opportunity to make a comparison of chicken I usually buy from the store vs the natures gourmet- just to see if there really is any difference. To say I was astonished at the contrast between the two is an understatement. There was NO comparison! They were completely different in every way! Color, texture, dryness, taste…literally everything!
Before explaining the pictures first- the picture of the cuts has been edited solely for the purpose of highlighting the difference in the muscle striations in each type of breast.
These breast (4 in total) were cooked exactly the same, in the same pot, for the same amount of time- all of them boiled in water (for poppyseed chicken 😋).
When I took them out the first thing I noticed was the color!
The top two in the skillet- the ones that are so yellow- came from Sam’s Club.
But the bottom two are from natures gourmet- they’re pink! They don’t look pale or “off”- they look how I remember chicken use to look!
Then I cut them open.
The Sam’s Club chicken was stringy and separating. It was easy to see the difference in the amount of “umph” there is in the muscle or in this case…lack thereof. I was able to essentially thumb through the muscle striations as though I was thumbing through the pages of a book. (Meat isn’t supposed to do that by the way)
The natures gourmet chicken has FAR more “umph”! It was more plump than the Sam’s chicken! I could even look at it and the striations were more tightly knit together than the chicken from sams. They weren’t spreading apart just by running my finger over it!

Then I squeezed the cut pieces (the second picture)- the Sam’s chicken had NO juice- it was very dry (even dry tasting). And when I squeezed it the spaces between the muscle meat opened up- almost as if it was a very weak muscle or didn’t have any fascia to hold it together- making for a tougher meat.
Next I squeezed the natures gourmet meat. It oozed juice. Oily, seeping juice. The kind you want to see coming out of meat when you cut into it. The muscle striations held together firmly and all that you could see was juice, and a lot of it too!
So, I tasted them.
Sam’s chicken was dry, like a bad case of cotton mouth, and it had absolutely no flavor at all. Literally none. Which surprised me- I was expecting something, you know….literally anything. But I tasted nothing- which threw me off!
Then I tasted the natures gourmet chicken. It was wonderful! Just plain boiled chicken- and I probably could’ve eaten it just like it was. It was juicy, and tender, and tasted like a chicken! Like an ACTUAL chicken! Yall, the difference was unreal! I honest to goodness did NOT expect that! I was shocked! The chicken that we’re buying from the grocery store….I’m beginning to wonder if it’s really chicken!
Thanks Reagan for sharing your testimony. Folks, it is really simple! When animals are raised more as God intended - on pasture, with fresh air and sunshine, eating bugs, grasses, and our NON GMO (no chemicals) feed, and moved to a fresh bed every day it can only be better than the commercial / industrialized CONFINED ANIMAL FEEDING OPERATION.

Our passion is raising the animals as God intended to the best of our ability - to do so not only provides our customers great tasting chicken, but chicken full of nutrition for their families.
