Back to Grass: The Market Potential for U.S. Grassfed Beef –

Back in the winter I participated in a survey regarding grassfed beef. Recently, the report titled “Back to Grass: The Market Potential for U.S. Grassfed Beef” was published. It is the most comprehensive market study of the growing grassfed beef industry published to date and covers both domestically produced and imported beef. A few highlights are:

Retail grocery sales of grassfed beef increased an amazing 1600% between 2012 and 2016

Grassfed beef imports account for at least 75% of total U.S. grassfed beef sales – and growing at a rapid pace

The “Big Four” packers (JBS, Cargill, Tyson, and National) control more than 80% of all the U.S. beef market

Current estimates put U.S. grassfed beef retail grocery & foodservice sales at $4.0 billion or 4% of today’s total beef market.

Imports – Due to lack of Country of Origin Labeling (COOL) requirements, many consumers are unknowingly purchasing imported grassfed beef. Imported beef passing through our USDA-Inspected plants can legally be labeled “Product of USA”. This should be a huge buy local incentive for consumers!

At Nature’s Gourmet Farm, our cattle are born and raised right here on our farm where we believe that both farmers and consumers are responsible for stewardship of the Earth. That means individuals need to be accountable for learning where their food comes from and for developing a connection with local farmers and food sources. Additionally, we believe in personnel responsibility. That everyone should take responsibility for their own health and that of their family by understanding the effects of food on their body and secure sources of healthy foods.

For the best value order our Premium Grass Fed Beef by the half or whole and save more than $500 vs. individual cuts. And, what could be more convenient than going to your freezer vs. the grocery store where selection is limited and prices are always changing.

Customer Feedback-

Wednesday, Steven & Vicki picked up their second Half Beef order from our freezer. Friday evening he texted me saying "Just enjoyed our best steak yet from your farm. Enjoyed meeting your wife. Thank Yawl".

Animal impact On OUR Pastures

The documentary Sacred Cow is known for the phrase "It's NOT the Cow, It's The How!" The meaning is simple. The cow is not responsible for any environmental effects on our land, water, or air. However, the way MAN insists on managing the cow IS RESPONSIBLE. The cow left to her nature and instinct would never confine themselves into a feedlot situration where they would be standing in their waste. Nor would the cow, when left to their nature and instinct, confine themselves to a single pasture on continuous graze. The cow's nature and instinct would be to eat, graze, and move - very similar to the buffalo

Government IS RESPONSIBLE For That

January 2024 LtGov Hoseman wrote an opinion piece that was published in newspapers across the state. The jist of his opinion was Mississippi's labor market is at a critical inflection point where only 53% of our population is working and the balance is not. While I fully agree Mississippi has a critical labor market issue - I also know GOVERNMENT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THAT!!! Full disclosure - I tried three times to discuss this point with Hoseman, but he never returned my call. I will be sending him

It's About FAITH

This week represents the most important week of our Christian Faith - leading up to Resurection Sunday (traditionally called Easter Sunday) where believers gather to celebrate The Lord Jesus Resurection from death. Now, trust me, the last thing I want to do is offend anyone. However, with a bit of an open mind you may want to continue and check out some of what I share. Otherwise, we look forward to you joining us back next week where I hope to share my thoughts on recent legislative happenings. First, I believe Christian Faith is best defined by Paul
