FARM UPDATE:
Hey, this is Ben. Customers tell us they are concerned about the extensive use of chemicals in growing their food. A key concern is genetically modified crops that allow farms to spray the herbicide Roundup that includes the active ingredient glyphosate.

There is a lot of reasons to be concerned! The World Health Organization has classified glyphosate as a probable human carcinogen... that causes cancer. This week the Environmental Working Group reported that Austria announced a total ban of the pesticide in early July and that Germany would also ban glyphosate - because research shows the toxic weedkiller to be linked to cancer in people.

Carey Gillam, author of Whitewash: The Story of a Weed Killer, Cancer, and the Corruption of Science recently reported that Monsanto has actively worked to discredit her work and tarnish her reputation.

I say this as an introduction to our feed supplier - Resaca Sun Feeds located in Resaca, GA. They are more that a supplier of feed, but are a valuable partner to our farm and our ability to supply "clean" chemical free feeds for our premium quality pork, chicken, and eggs that families like yours depend on. I recently asked Andrew Moore, third generation on the family farm to write a few words about their family business.

The lifegiving knowledge of how, who, and where food is produced is important to our family and probably to yours. The Moore family businesses have been supplying Nature’s Gourmet Farm with high quality feed and ingredients since July 2016. Just like you, we are committed to buying high quality products locally from our neighbors, friends, and colleagues who support the community where our children and grandchildren play and go to school and church. Our family businesses–Resaca Sun Products, LLC, Resaca Sun Feeds, LLC, and Moore’s Seed and Grain Farms, Inc.–have enhanced our businesses with new technology and equipment that can continue to provide the premium feeds and ingredients you want with the transparency you expect.

We are members of the American Pastured Poultry Producers Association and support local farms in nine Southern States with NON-GMO Project Verified poultry feed as well as other feeds.

Improving oilseed and pelleting process equipment to use less fossil fueled energy and increase output without reducing quality is a major concern for Resaca Sun Feeds and Resaca Sun Products. Both companies have developed working research relationships with Bliss Industries, Inc., and Anderson International, Inc. Resaca Sun Feeds and Resaca Sun Products have committed to providing research production for each of the companies. In return, Bliss Industries is providing a complete overhaul of the pellet mill equipment that will give greater precision control of the die speed to give the best pellet quality for our feed customers. Resaca Sun Products has teamed up with Anderson International to install a redesigned expeller press for processing Non-GMO oilseeds. The new equipment conserves energy and produces higher quality protein and oil.

Our family is honored to play a role in producing the feeds and ingredients that go into the food your family consumes. Thank you for trusting our family to provide for your family.

Customer Feedback –

"Thank you Ben and Beth, for all the hard work you do to bring what Mother Nature intended for us to have in food. Words can’t express how grateful we are to finally, after 50 years of eating unhealthy, flavorless factory farm food; to having the opportunity to consume clean, healthy, tasteful, affordable beef, pork, and poultry. It’s the best we’ve ever had! Thank you for all you do". Jennifer B

Customer's Speak Out

Last week's newsletter really struck home to many customers based on very positive responses received. Jennie, one of our Mobile customers (1st order April 2022 and has completed 18 nice orders since then) gave me permission to share her comments. “Maybe it will encourage others to get started,” she said. Jennie writes, “Wow, Ben, your newsletter really struck a chord with me today. Back in 2019 I was going through some personal trials that were causing me extraordinary stress, anger and frustration. I took up gardening as therapy. You may remember my t-shirt that said "I garden so I don't choke people." LOL! I had no clue how to garden so I started with a few pots of various greens that fall. They didn't do well, but

WOW!!!

Last week I shared our team processing ground beef for our farm’s March sales. This was after two days spent cutting and packing steaks, roast, etc. from eight beef. Once all the beef was stacked into our freezer I made a short video that you can watch by clicking HERE This video represents 8-beef. 1.5 beef were custom orders and 6.5 beef (about 1.5 more than our typical amount harvested) were for our farm store sales.
