Hello from Ben. I want to take a few minutes to highlight some changes coming in 2020 that we are making to better serve our growing customer base.

First, we are pleased to announce that our oldest son, Eric, has joined our farm. His priority will be managing the hen & egg business, helping with daily chores for meat chickens, and operate as a backup to me as needed.

EGGS - we will double egg production beginning by March. A second hoop structure has been ordered for pickup the first week of December and new hens will arrive the first week of January. We appreciate your patience.

MEAT CHICKENS - with our new plant we can now process an unlimited number of chickens. Demand is strong - we sold out of the pieces in less than 1 hour last Friday evening. Many of you missed an opportunity to place an order and we receive calls and emails daily. That said, we will continue to raise and process chickens through the winter months. We have a batch on pasture now plus two batches in the brooder. For 2020, we expect to more than double our production to try and meet customer needs.

DELIVERY LOCATIONS - currently we basically have one route with four delivery locations. Our Madison area customers have been faithful supporters even with our random delivery dates. This is a priority to fix and put predictability in our schedule. We also want to move our delivery dates to Saturdays vs. Wednesdays. So, here is the plan!

ROUTES - start with three with option of four as business grows to support
Jackson Metro with possible delivery locations in Magee, Brandon (Crossgates), Flowood, Eastover, and Madison.

Mobile/Gulf Coast with 2 or 3 delivery locations in Mobile and 1 each for Ocean Springs, Biloxi, and Gulfport (current location)

Pine Belt - no change in Hattiesburg locations. Picayune will continue with Hattiesburg and possibly split off and be joined with a possible Slidell area route in the future.

We will begin these delivery location changes in Spring 2020.

Lastly, we want to implement a loyality rewards program that rewards families who have spent a certain amount the previous 12 months with our farm with a percent savings on new orders.

Obviously, Routes, specific Delivery Locations and Times are still being worked out so stay tuned for more details. That said, if you have any comments, would like to volunteer to be a location leader, etc. please let us hear from you.

Beth & I thank you for supporting local (integrity) regenerative food sources to create a food system that nourishes healthy families, that is better for the animals' welfare, that is better for regenerating the land and that builds healthy communities. That is the only way to make a positive impact with your food dollars.

Customer Feedback –

"Yes, we haven't tried the pork except the sausage and it was very good. We've enjoyed the eggs a lot. I fixed a roast last week. We've used probably 15 lbs or more of the hamburger so far. I made a meatloaf last week and it was very good. My son had his 35th birthday Saturday so I cooked up 5 lbs of chili which everyone said it was the best chili. I think the best part is knowing we're not being poisoned and dying a slow death every time we have a meal. No chemicals, no antibiotics, no steroids, no GMO's and the animals were able to be a real animal able to walk around, live a humane life and be happy. They not living a life in fear and the fear hormones weren't released in the meats. When people are sick and trying to recover and trying to live a healthy life you can't eat sick food.
Thank you for putting out quality meats and eggs.
We will buy again."

Cows & Pigs

Brand New Services– About six weeks ago Dixie Electric Power installed a brand new electric line with poles down my road. They replaced the old copper lines with aluminum and the poles are much better quality and taller. I asked the district manager when was the old copper line installed and he said since electric service was available for us… so, maybe since the mid 1940’s? Then, this week our complete road was blacktopped!!! If you have visited our farm you know it was long overdue. For years it has been patched to the point where the patches had patches. Hahaha

Clean and Cold | Adorable Calves

New Calves On Our Farm– Sometime in April we call our vet and schedule a breeding soundness exam for our bulls. This is before we add our bulls to our cow herd May 1st each year. Our oldest bull, affectionately named “Ole Man” by the guys here, was born on our farm the Spring of 2016.

New Pullets | Calves | Job Opening

Pullets arrived March 1st– every 6 months we receive a fresh batch of pullets. This year we were not sure if our late February to early March batch would be available…even though we ordered them last September. However, mostly since we have done business with the same farmer since the Spring of 2017, he prioritized our order and delivered them March 1st. While the price was higher, I was braced for a much higher price. Our pullets are typically 17 weeks old when delivered. They will start laying at about 24 weeks. That means we should start seeing medium eggs by our May delivery dates. YEAH!
