Custom Half Beef - if you are interested in getting a half beef it is not to late. Simply follow this link https://naturesgourmetfarm.com/custom-bulk-orders
to place your deposit.

3) Pork- Individual cuts - we added individual cuts to our store and are fully stocked. Since last Sunday we have more than 44 orders for pork. If you are looking for a half or whole pig - our next processing date will be September 15th.

4) Eggs- Egg production has slowed down - mostly from the older hens. Our new hens arrived August 16th and oh my, the older girls were not happy. You would not believe the fuss and drama from them.... fortunately after a week they are starting to settle in. The new hens should start laying very soon. We expect to have a limited amount of eggs for September delivery and have added what we believe will be available to our website for orders.

FARM UPDATE:
Hey, this is Ben. You may remember me sharing a short piece on Kyle Bass a few weeks ago. Kyle is a local Petal fellow who went to Austin, TX after high school and worked in the high end restaurants there that sourced their food from local farms. He told me that many customers eat at certain restaurants because of the farms that provided the food.

Now, Kyle is back in town and has a new food truck. He has visited our farm and is great at communicating his needs. September 1st he made a dish that used our pork shoulder roast, lard, and eggs. For this Sunday, he has purchased our grass fed beef chuck roast to make "Beef Grillades & Grits". It's braised and stewed beef served over stone ground grits with a Nature's Gourmet Farm fried egg. Kyle will be serving this Sunday from 10a-2p at the Equinox Coffee Shop located at 1901 Hardy Street (across from Sunflower). Here's a picture of his new food truck. For more information see his website art-of-roux.com

Beth & I thank you for supporting local (integrity) regenerative food sources to create a food system that nourishes healthy families, that is better for the animals welfare, that is better for regenerating the land and that builds healthy communities. That is the only way to make a positive impact with your food dollars.

Customer Feedback - "Meat is awesome! Byron said he wants another big one if the cow is large. That one was the best..." ~Angela H

Quote Worth Re-Quoting –

These words were spoken on the floor of the U.S. Senate by Wyoming Senator John B. Kendrick in 1921.

“[Agriculture] has been brought to such a high degree of concentration that it is dominated by few men. The big packers, so called, stand between hundreds of thousands of producers on one hand and millions of consumers on the other. They have their fingers on the pulse of both the producing and consuming markets and are in such a position of strategic advantage they have unrestrained power to manipulate both markets to their own advantage and to the disadvantage of over 99 percent of the people of the country. Such power is too great, Mr. President, to repose in the hands of any men.”

More on this next week. Until then, Thank you for supporting our regenerative, local farm.

Cows & Pigs

Brand New Services– About six weeks ago Dixie Electric Power installed a brand new electric line with poles down my road. They replaced the old copper lines with aluminum and the poles are much better quality and taller. I asked the district manager when was the old copper line installed and he said since electric service was available for us… so, maybe since the mid 1940’s? Then, this week our complete road was blacktopped!!! If you have visited our farm you know it was long overdue. For years it has been patched to the point where the patches had patches. Hahaha

Clean and Cold | Adorable Calves

New Calves On Our Farm– Sometime in April we call our vet and schedule a breeding soundness exam for our bulls. This is before we add our bulls to our cow herd May 1st each year. Our oldest bull, affectionately named “Ole Man” by the guys here, was born on our farm the Spring of 2016.

New Pullets | Calves | Job Opening

Pullets arrived March 1st– every 6 months we receive a fresh batch of pullets. This year we were not sure if our late February to early March batch would be available…even though we ordered them last September. However, mostly since we have done business with the same farmer since the Spring of 2017, he prioritized our order and delivered them March 1st. While the price was higher, I was braced for a much higher price. Our pullets are typically 17 weeks old when delivered. They will start laying at about 24 weeks. That means we should start seeing medium eggs by our May delivery dates. YEAH!
