It's About FAITH

Good Morning from your farmer,

This week represents the most important week of our Christian Faith - leading up to Resurection Sunday (traditionally called Easter Sunday) where believers gather to celebrate The Lord Jesus Resurection from death.

Now, trust me, the last thing I want to do is offend anyone. However, with a bit of an open mind you may want to continue and check out some of what I share. Otherwise, we look forward to you joining us back next week where I hope to share my thoughts on recent legislative happenings.

First, I believe Christian Faith is best defined by Paul in 1 Corthinthians 15:1-4 where he writes

1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;

2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

A very important part of my faith is daily Bible Study & Prayer time. I typically rise first while the house is quite. Fix a cup of coffee and sit in my chair with my Bible. I like to study along with a now deceased rancher from OK who has about 360 lesson on the internet. He is simpy a gifted layman who has spent much of his life studying and then teaching mostly in small group home settings. His name is Les Feldick and if you are interested you can find his lessons at www.lesfeldick.org.

In 1 Corinthians 2:12-14 Paul writes:

12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Spirit teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

You know, many people share how crazy our world has become and they are concerned... even fearful.

That's where my faith comes in. For me, it's important to consider issues and make decisions from a Bibical Worldview vs. Secular view. I once saw a video message by Dr. Ken Ham where he described the differences and how folks are caught up in the issues vs. considering the issues based on the foundation of God's Word. Here is a link to his message if you are interested.

Life on the farm has its challenges and stress points. My daily time with the Lord sure helps me see things clearly and make better decisions. Hope you have a blessed Resurection Sunday.

The farm also has many rewards. Here, these yerlings are so full of nutrient dense forage they are mostly just lottering around... to full to move. It is a real blessing to be able to watch them eat and interact with each other on such a beautiful day.

"Pasture Raised" Defined

The USDA has officially updated the definition of “pasture-raised” to require that animals spend the majority of their lives on rooted, vegetative pasture, distinguishing it from “free-range,” which only mandates outdoor access. This update became effective March 2025. Here at Nature’s Gourmet Farm that is how we raise our animals – whether it be cows, pigs, meat chickens, egg layers, or turkeys. Pasture raised is our management choice and reflects our stewardship ethos. Frankly, pasture raised is how God created them to be versus. in a Confined Animal Feeding Operation (CAFO). CAFOs represent man’s inhumane wisdom!!!

NGF Customer Speaks Out

NGF Customer Speaks Out - First, a little background. Stephen & his wife Mary Katherine have been customers of our farm for 5 years. They, along with their 3 boys, have visited our farm. We have shared many conversations about farming and how Mississippi is truly a "food desert" (on a grand scale when only 2% of the food grown in MS is actually raised in MS). I know their passion for eating healthy and supporting small farms. They know my passion to increase small farms that serve their communities nutritious food. One day at our Madison pickup Stephen and I were talking and he asked, "What can I do to help grow the number of small farms?"

MS Ag Commissioner Visits NGF

Commissioner Andy Gipson Visits NGF - Monday, Commissioner Gipson (Andy) visited our farm for the third time. First, was after he was appointed and Senator Hill and I were working to increase the poultry exemption for Mississippi. The second time was after we built the USDA poultry processing plant that Andy supported our LWT Grant which helped fund about 50% of the cost. This visit was to support Andy’s efforts to both support existing farmers as well as encourage more people to farm and help feed our citizens.
