Christmas Hams & Beef Shares

Christmas Hams – Typically folks think of turkeys for Thanksgiving and hams for Christmas. We received our turkeys late October for delivery prior to Thanksgiving. Then, in November we processed extra hams for delivery to customers in December just in time for Christmas.

One of our local customers had both turkey & ham for Thanksgiving and has since ordered four more hams to give to his employees for Christmas gifts.

And, the best part is we decided to mark our hams down 15% for the Christmas season. That's a savings of $1.30 per pound.

Half & Whole Beef Shares- we took December off for half & whole beef shares as there was just too much going on to make the dates. Besides, most folks have a lot of other things planned for December.

That said, 2026 is just around the corner (where has 2025 gone-right?). And it is time to place your order for our January 6th 2026 Custom Beef Harvest.

We already have 4.5 beef reserved from folks who contacted us to have their name added to our wait list. These folks received first dibs for their orders. Three families are buying a whole beef each - WOW!

If this is your first time to order a half (or whole beef) 😃 we urge you to start at this PAGE where you can place your order, review important ordering tips, and find your cut sheet. Current market price is still $6.25 per pound based on the hanging weight for the meat plus about $0.85 per pound for processing cost.

Near the bottom of the page next to the cut sheet link is a file titled Iowa Whole Animal Buying Guide. This is the best reference I know that really helps customers understand the process of buying a half beef or pork to include freezer space required, weight jargon, cuts available, and oh yes, what does custom processing mean?

If a January 2026 date is too early for you we have added a 3-month order window table to the page that shows when you will be able to place an order, the harvest date, and availability date through March 2026. Here is what it looks like:

Our farm processing operates as follows:
1st Wednesday is beef & pork harvest
Next Tuesday & Wednesday is chicken harvest & cut/pack in the AM. Pork cut/pack in PM
Next Tuesday - Thursday is beef cut/pack
Last Tuesday & Wednesday is chicken harvest & cut/pack in the AM. Process pork sausage in PM

Boy, those weeks sure go by fast.
